So you and your new husband want to Honeymoon in Italy, but don’t think you have the budget to do so? We are here to help! Although Italy can be one of the most expensive Honeymoon destinations doesn’t mean you have to max our your credit card to make it happen!
Once you book a flight to a major airport (we are starting our journey in Milan) grab your luggage and find the nearest train station. Although flights can be less expensive once you get to Europe, taking the train will save you hundreds of dollars during your Honeymoon, and the best part is you get to see all the amazing scenery! Our first leg of the trip is from Milan to Monterosso, the most northern villages of Cinque Terra. Monterosso is a great location to make as your base when traveling to Cinque Terra from Milan. Not only is it only a 3 hour train ride from Milan and only $17, but it is the largest and boast for the most beachy town out of the five.
Airbnb's can be another great way to save money on your trip. Think you'll be skipping out on the romance and luxury? Think again Airbnb's in Italy are nothing but quant and romantic. Take for example this one we just booked, a newly refurbished apartment that is truly unique with its gray arches that make for quite a magical atmosphere. After spending several says exploring the neighboring towns of Cinque Terra by foot, hop on the ferry from Monterosso to Riomaggiore, the most southern town in Cinque Terra. Spend one night here exploring Riomaggiore and the town over Manarola.
Have the freedom of exploring Tuscany on your own time, and what better way (and cheaper) than renting a car with your hubs. If following us from Riomaggiore, rent a car first thing in the morning and make your way through the winding roads to Lucca. Known for its cobblestone streets and Renaissance Walls that encircling this history city, you will find it hard to find anything more romantic.
Take for example Tenuta San Pietro Hotel & Resort, which we booked for 3 nights at only $126 a night. This quant boutique hotel is a converted 16th century farmhouse. The hotel boasts 8 rooms and suites that overlook private gardens and pool. The restaurant serves regional cuisine on the terrace and offers cooking classes, wine tastings, and spa amenities. After soaking up all that bliss for several days, hop on the train and make your way to Florence for some city life! Once again we looked to AirBnb for our accommodations and found this beautify apartment with a private garden and Jacuzzi pool in the historic center of Santa Croce for only $209 per night. After spend several days in Florence we jumped on our last train and made our way to Venice.
